Native American Tribe Troubled By New Moon!
The filming of New Moon, sequel of the hit movie Twilight, has infuriated a tribe of Native Americans. The Quileute tribe, which believes to be descended from wolves, has alleged that the vampire flick offers a wrong portrayal of their history and is insulting to their community.
Buzz up!
The movie reportedly shows members of the Quileute Nation turning from humans to werewolves to fight Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, and his fellow vampires. However, the tribal lore has their ancestors changed forever from wolves into humans by a mysterious traveller.
“This could have been an opportunity to -educate the world on Quileute -history. But at best the movie-makers have taken a liberty,” the Daily Star quoted Tribal Council member Anna Rose Counsell as saying. The tribe living in isolated Pacific coast reservation of La Push, 109 miles from Seattle in Washington state, feels that the film will lead to intrusion of unwanted elements as tourists will flock to see the location of the shoot.
An elderly person of the community said: “Our heritage could be destroyed by an influx of outsiders and a tourism explosion.” Another member added: “This was our secret world but now, because of Hollywood, everyone is getting to know about us.”
However, there is conflict of ideas as the youngsters in the area plan to achieve maximum benefit through their sudden fame. So, they have opened ritual Wednesday night drum-circles to outsiders. They have also build tourist resort for visitors who want to enjoy whale watching, fishing, hiking and storm watching. A three-hour Twilight boat tour is offered to fans who wish to see the films’ locations.
New Moon Soundtrack Confirmation: Prime your ears for Muse (woo Stephenie Meyer <3), Radiohead and Band of Skulls.
If only we'd had Alice's prescient powers, we would have seen this coming. After months of speculation about which artists will be featured on the "New Moon" soundtrack (Kelly Clarkson maybe? Or Jasper himself, Jackson Rathbone? What about Lee Safar and Kings of Leon?), we finally have word from director Chris Weitz as to a few of the artists gracing the album. According to The L.A. Times, Muse, Radiohead and Band of Skulls will appear on the much-thirsted-for soundtrack.
This marks the second time Muse will contribute to a Saga soundtrack. Their "Supermassive Black Hole," which you'll recall accompanied the baseball scene in "Twilight," was also the opening track to the movie's album. Author Stephenie Meyer is a devoted fan of the band, often using their songs as inspiration while writing. She lists no fewer than four songs, among them "Hyper Music" and "Apocalypse Please" as unofficial playlist tracks for "New Moon."
Brit band Radiohead is also a favorite of the author. Though they don't appear on Stephenie's "New Moon" playlist, their seminal "Creep" crept on to the author's unofficial "Twilight" playlist.
The lone "Twilight" franchise newcomer among the bunch is Band of Skulls. The British alt-rock band formed in 2008 and released their first album, "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey," in March.
Though we have yet to find out which songs will be used for the album, it's nice to know which artists we can expect to hear from. It's a welcome, though not all-together surprising, list thus far.
What do you think of the inclusion of these three bands on the "New Moon" soundtrack? Have any other artists to recommend?
